Lake Washington School District is seeking a part-time instructional support assistant for Thoreau Elementary in the Juanita Learning Community. The position runs on a 180-day calendar with a four-hour workday, 10:45am–2:45pm.

Hourly pay ranges from $30.79 to $33.47, depending on experience, and the role may involve supervision in library, classroom, or bus areas. Minimum requirements include being 18+, a high school diploma or equivalent, and either an AA degree or two years of college credits

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen years of age.
• Must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• AA degree or higher OR 72 college quarter credit hours OR ParaPro assessment scores required.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students with varying needs.
• Support students with health care needs and daily living/behavioral skills development.
• Assist staff with classroom prep, equipment usage and storage, and materials retrieval.

Step 1: $30.79/hour- Step 2: $33.47/hour based on experience ( SC7 Salary Schedule 2026 - 2027 ) Position is eligible for membership in the Teamsters Local Union No. 763 which is part of the Lake Washington School District Trades Bargaining Council No. 763 (TBC).

Job Summary

Assists teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students of all educational levels who have physical or behavioral needs or are medically fragile. Supports students' special health care needs and develops daily living and behavioral skills. Assists staff with classroom preparation and retrieval, use and storage of equipment and supplies. May supervise and assist students in library, classrooms, resource rooms, self-contained classroom, playgrounds, or getting on and off a bus.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. Hold an Associate degree (AA) or higher OR Completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours, OR Passed an Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment documenting a score of Reading and Writing at 324 and Mathematics at 325. Candidates must meet both subtest scores. Official documentation will be required before hiring.
