Mount View Elementary School is seeking a relationship-centered Paraeducator I to join our dedicated team in supporting students with diverse behavioral and learning needs. This position will serve as a first and regular support to students who are experiencing challenges behaviorally, supporting them to be emotionally regulated, address the impact of their actions as needed, and to succeed socially, behaviorally, and emotionally in their classroom. The ideal candidate will build strong, trusting relationships with students and families through a connect-before-correct approach, maintaining calm and compassion even in moments of emotional or behavioral escalation. They will bring an asset-based mindset, recognizing and celebrating each student's strengths and growth.


This role requires a deep commitment to equity-driven practice and advocacy—ensuring every child receives the individualized support they need to thrive. The Paraeducator will collaborate closely with teachers, paraeducators, and administration to provided targeted Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions to students in the classroom, small groups, and during less structured settings such as recess, preferably in both English and Spanish, and will consistently collect and interpret student data to inform next steps. The paraeducator may be asked to follow a curriculum to provide small group interventions, as well as be able to implement and follow individual student behavior plans. Key skills will include patience, innovative thinking, flexibility, responsive and open to feedback and direction, bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred to support communication with students and staff.


SUMMARY:

The job of Paraeducator 1 provides support to the school's instructional program with specific responsibilities for working with individuals and/or small groups of students to assist in improving student achievement and implementing individual plans for instruction. In addition, Paraeducator 1 provides support for the operational duties within a school, monitors student behavior across school settings, and may also support in student safety, personal care, behavioral and physical supports that does not require unassisted lifting more than 35 pounds.
