  • Observe individual children daily and provide input for conferences.
  • Maintain documentation for each child as directed by teacher.
  • Keep community areas neat and clean, including playground, bathrooms, snack area, etc.
  • NAEYC compliance and weekly portfolio updates.

Job Description: Paraprofessional
Purpose:

Assists and participates in teaching, protecting and providing care for preschool children; carries out lesson plans and other curriculum provided by the classroom Teacher; participates in planning lessons, staff meetings, professional development, etc.

Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with
  • Experience with preschool children, preferably in a classroom / child care setting can supervise visually, with or without corrective lenses, to 40ft.
  • Can independently lit up to 10lbs., if necessary
  • Prompt, reliable, dependable, honest, ability to accept constructive feedback from supervisors
  • Good oral and written communication skills
Responsibilities
Classroom:
  • Assist classroom teacher in implementation of age / developmentally appropriate lesson plans
  • Assist classroom teacher In maintaining orderly, clean, welcoming classroom for children and parents
  • Present any notes, communication, messages to classroom teacher immediately upon receiving from parent, or other adult
  • Interact positively with children at a times
  • Maintain visual supervision of children at all times
  • Observe individual children daily, maintain up to date information in assigned children portfolio, and provide input to classroom teacher for conferences
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for each child, as directed by classroom teacher accident/incident report, sick report, daily notes, etc.
  • Assist in keeping community areas of building neat and clean; including playground area, bathrooms, snack area, common area, refrigerator, supply cabinets, etc.
  • Keep toys / mats appropriately sanitized, according to NAEYC regulations
  • Assist in keeping the program in compliance with NAEYC and classroom portfolio up to date on a weekly basis
Professional Development / miscellaneous
  • Be familiar with state licensing regulations regarding staff / child ratios, hand washing, communicable disease information, etc.
  • Be familiar with NAEYC Quality Program Standards
  • Read and become familiar with Little Raiders University faculty and parent handbooks.
  • Attend required staff meetings, as scheduled
  • Participate in and receive certification in : First Aid; Child Abuse; PMT Training
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as parent orientation, evening events, etc.
  • Report any unsafe or uncomfortable working conditions to the Program Director immediately
  • Sensitivity to individual children and their families regarding; ethnicity, differences in cultures, religious affiliations, family structure, etc.
  • Working cooperatively with teacher and proving positive role model for children
Requirements upon Hire
  • Provide proof of Physical Examination with statement of good health from Primary Care physician, advanced practice nurse, or physician’s assistant; this may be dated within the last 12 months before hire; and then every two years after
  • Proof of negative TB test upon hire
  • Three letters of reference from adults not related to employee
  • Completed application for employment
  • Fingerprint cards and DCF release of information forms
  • Sign up on the CT Charts-a-course registry
  • Signed statement of understanding faculty and parent handbooks
  • Signed statement of understanding NAEYC Code of Ethic’s
  • Resume, if applicable
