Position: Elementary Paraprofessional

Location: Center Elementary School

Paraprofessional supporting students receiving individualized special education instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Associate degree, some college or passing of the paraprofessional test
• Knowledge and understanding of various disabilities
• Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records.
• Knowledge of special education procedures.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the Elementary School level.
• Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting.
• Support students academically, emotionally, behaviorally, socially in the school setting
• Assist students with toileting as needed
• Ability to follow directions and implement accommodations and modifications as directed by teachers and related service providers
• Ability to collect data consistently
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education coordinator, and Director of Student Services.

• A team player to work as a paraprofessional providing academic support for students. Candidate will work with elementary school children, both in general education classrooms and the special education classroom to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically.
• Able to assist with all aspects of students self-care.
• Successful candidate will have a positive attitude and must work well as a member of a team.
• Ability to build relationships with students and colleagues, and provide ongoing support and direction to students.
• Associate degree preferred.
