Job summary

Montgomery ISD seeks a dedicated paraprofessional to support students with disabilities inside and outside the classroom, assisting with IEP implementation, self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs under supervision of a certified teacher.

Minimum qualifications include 18 years of age, a high school diploma or GED, and either an associate degree or two years of college, plus a valid Texas educational aide certificate.

Qualifications

• Requires working with children with disabilities and following instructions.
• Requires ability to communicate effectively and use general office equipment.
• Certification in Texas educational aide is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing IEPs and instructional programs.
• Support self-help, behavior management, and classroom activities.
• Work under supervision of a certified teacher and school administration.

Job description

Primary Purpose

Help meet physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities inside and outside classroom. Assist in implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP), including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs. Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

• Applicant must be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
• Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Ability to work with children with disabilities
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Knowledge of general office equipment

Experience

• Some experience working with children

Work Schedule: 187 days
