Job summary

Sacramento County Office of Education is seeking a Para-Educator to assist teachers in supporting students with mild to moderate needs. You will help supervise, provide instructional support, and maintain classroom safety.

You will also assist with recordkeeping, communication with families, and collaboration with support staff to implement behavior plans and accessibility accommodations. Training in safety procedures and ability to work as part of a team are essential.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing, and math skills demonstrated by proficiency test.
• Ability to read and understand instructions and guides.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
• Experience working with groups of children; desirable.
• Ability to supervise and support students in one-on-one or small group settings.

Responsibilities

• Assists teacher by observing and supervising classroom activities to promote positive student outcomes.
• Facilitates one-on-one and group instruction in support of learning.
• Maintains accurate records and reports including attendance and student progress.
• Communicates with students, school staff, and bus drivers; talks with parents/guardians as directed.
• Assists with safety and security, crisis intervention, and emergency procedures.
