Job summary

MissionHires is seeking a Process Engineer-level candidate to own and optimize paper machine processes, lead troubleshooting, and drive continuous-improvement initiatives in Cherokee, AL. The role focuses on improving productivity, quality, waste reduction, and safety, while training operators and technicians in standardized workflows.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, with experience or co-op exposure to manufacturing, and strong skills in statistics,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial) or related field.
• 0+ years in manufacturing; co-op/internship accepted.
• Proficiency with Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Statistics knowledge as applied to process control.
• Advanced structured problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, leadership and facilitation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support achievement of daily operating results.
• Develop and train troubleshooting skills among manufacturing professionals.
• Drive standardized work practices and structured troubleshooting within operations teams.
• Control process settings and train operators on their use.
• Lead continuous-improvement projects to boost productivity, quality, and safety.
• Provide day-to-day operational training and technical support to technicians.
• Support development and implementation of process control systems.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers to ensure standardized control formats.
• Uphold core values in all endeavors.
• Perform other essential responsibilities as needed.
