Job Title: Paper Machine Assistant Superintendent – Fine Paper Mill Hawesville (FPM H2)

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the H2 Paper Machine Superintendent, this position is responsible for attaining established goals and continuous improvement in the areas of safety, reliability, cost, customer satisfaction and quality for the H2 Paper Machine Department.
• Establish, maintain, and support programs that promote an accident‑free workplace, sustainable processes, cost improvement, reliability and flexibility.
• Align department goals with corporate and mill‑wide goals.
• Ensure that quality standards are met or exceeded in manufacturing.
• Ensure that customer satisfaction is met or exceeded.
• Prioritize and maintain equipment and oversee engineering for the improvement or installation of equipment for capital projects.
• Maintain and improve management/bargaining unit labor relations.
• Performance manage all direct and indirect reports within the department.
• Take off‑hour production calls and direct mill operations during weekends or holidays as needed.
• Stay abreast of industry developments that could improve safety, reliability, cost, customer satisfaction, and quality.
• Actively support and participate in cross‑functional teams within the corporation.
• Drive continuous improvement in flexibility.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of ten (10) years’ work experience, or a combination of post‑secondary education and work experience.
• Pulp and paper experience.
• Knowledge of effective safety practices and demonstrated ability to advance a safety culture.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated people‑development skills.

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Knowledge of effective maintenance practices.
• Experience with SAP.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, etc.).
• Competency with information databases.
