Job description

Job Title: Panel Builder II
Location: Fort Mill, SC
Department: Operations
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Job Type: Full-Time

Summary:

At AID, no two control panels are exactly the same. As a Panel Builder II, you'll independently assemble and wire complex, fully custom electrical control panels for water and wastewater treatment facilities - including panels built around Variable Frequency Drives, Soft Starts, and Programmable Logic Controllers or relay logic. Because every job is different, this role offers real variety and the chance to keep sharpening your craft rather than repeating the same build day after day. You'll play a direct role in the manufacturing process, help ensure processes and procedures are followed and documented, and may mentor less experienced builders on the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics with fluency; apply strong knowledge of schematic symbols, panel components, and general wiring practices, including proper sizing of power cabling per the NEC
  • Operate hand and power tools including drills, jig saws, knockout punches, and electric/hydraulic crimpers
  • Print wire and component labels using standard labeling software
  • Ensure proper component layout per UL, NEC, and AID standards
  • Independently assemble components to back pans and enclosures and wire complex, fully custom panels per electrical schematic
  • Work with a high level of precision; correct wire connections and component placement are critical, especially given the custom nature of every build
  • Conduct thorough electrical testing of completed panels to confirm proper functionality and identify wiring errors
  • Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced panel builders as needed

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of electrical theory, including voltage, current, power, and circuit design
  • Minimum 1 year of experience building industrial control panels (candidates with more experience well-suited for our most complex custom builds)
  • Ability to read a tape measure and use standard hand and power tools
  • Detail-oriented, with a commitment to safe and organized housekeeping
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable in an industrial environment involving manual labor; able to bend/lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Compliance with all PPE requirements
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership

Preferred

  • 2- or 4-year degree in MET/EET, or a mechatronics certification
  • Completion of an electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent electrical training
  • Prior knowledge of UL and NEC standards
  • Prior experience in a UL 508A/UL 698A manufacturing facility
  • Prior experience working in a 5S manufacturing facility

Must submit to pre-employment background, drug, and alcohol screening.
