Job summary

Muth Electric, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Panel Assembly Lead to guide daily panel assembly, wiring, and testing in a prefabrication shop.

You will supervise a small team, ensure work aligns with electrical drawings, project specs, and quality standards, and work closely with PM, engineering, and warehouse. The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, safe practices, and timely delivery of fully assembled, documented, and field-ready panels.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the electrical panel assembly team.
• Assemble and wire electrical panels, control panels, disconnects, junction boxes, and related electrical equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one-lines, panel schedules, layouts, and project specifications.
• Install breakers, contactors, relays, terminal blocks, transformers, power supplies, controls, and other components.
• Route, terminate, label, and organize wiring per drawings and standards.
• Verify component placement, wire numbers, terminations, labeling, and panel layouts.
• Perform quality inspections to identify errors before panels leave the shop.
• Coordinate production priorities and communicate status to leadership.
• Train and mentor panel assembly personnel on electrical practices and safety.

The Electrical Panel Assembly Lead is responsible for leading the daily assembly and wiring of electrical control panels, distribution panels, and related electrical equipment in a prefabrication shop environment.

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for coordinating the panel assembly team while ensuring panels are built safely, accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with electrical drawings, project specifications, and quality standards.

The Panel Assembly Lead works closely with project management, engineering, purchasing, warehouse, and field teams to ensure completed panels are properly assembled, documented, inspected, and ready for installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the electrical panel assembly team.
• Assemble and wire electrical panels, control panels, disconnects, junction boxes, and related electrical equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one-lines, panel schedules, layouts, and project specifications.
• Install breakers, contactors, relays, terminal blocks, transformers, power supplies, controls, and other electrical components.
• Route, terminate, label, and organize wiring according to drawings and company standards.
• Verify component placement, wire numbers, terminations, labeling, and panel layouts before completion.
• Perform quality inspections throughout the assembly process to identify errors before panels leave the shop.
• Assist with continuity checks, point-to-point verification, and other panel testing as required.
• Coordinate daily work assignments and establish production priorities based on project schedules.
• Monitor production progress and communicate completion status, delays, material shortages, and issues to shop leadership.
• Identify discrepancies between drawings, materials, and panel construction and coordinate resolutions with engineering or project management.
• Ensure required materials and components are available before beginning assembly.
• Coordinate with the warehouse to identify missing, damaged, or incorrect materials.
• Train and mentor panel assembly personnel on electrical assembly, wiring practices, tools, safety, and quality expectations.
• Lead by example and maintain high standards for productivity, workmanship, safety, and accountability.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
• Ensure completed panels are properly packaged, labeled, documented, and staged for delivery.
• Maintain production and quality documentation as required.
• Follow all company safety policies, electrical safety procedures, and applicable codes and standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

• Electrical construction, electrical assembly, or electrical panel-building experience.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Strong understanding of electrical components, wiring methods, terminations, and electrical systems.
• Ability to lead and coordinate a small production team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical and assembly issues.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple production requirements.
• Basic computer skills.

Preferred:

• Previous electrical foreman, lead, or supervisory experience.
• Experience building and wiring control panels or switchgear.
• Experience with industrial electrical systems.
• Experience with PLCs, motor controls, VFDs, or instrumentation.
• Experience working from BIM, engineered drawings, or detailed shop drawings.
• Experience with electrical testing and commissioning.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and work inside or around electrical enclosures.
• Ability to lift and move electrical components and materials.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing/prefabrication shop environment.

Success in this position means electrical panels leave the shop complete, correctly wired, properly labeled, tested, and ready for the field to install without unnecessary rework or troubleshooting.
