Job description

Job Requirements

The Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced, patient-centered care to individuals with serious, chronic, and life-limiting illnesses across inpatient and outpatient settings. The NP works collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to manage complex symptoms, facilitate goals-of-care discussions, and support patients and families through serious illness trajectories.

This role supports University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health’s commitment to high-quality, compassionate, and equitable care aligned with the University of Maryland Medical System mission.

Work Experience
Education & Training
  • Nurse Practitioner with appropriate Maryland licensure and credentialing to practice under the supervision of a physician in the state of Maryland.
  • ANCC or Palliative & Hospice Medicine certification is preferred.
Work Orientation & Experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years of direct patient care experience in internal medicine or palliative care, hospice.
  • Experience is appropriate to the management of chronic disease, end of life, comfort care and goals of care.
