Job summary

Owens Corning is hiring for a 3rd shift manufacturing role at our plant. You will manually load pallets, operate trim saw machinery, and assist maintenance while ensuring safety and quality. The role emphasizes teamwork and following work instructions to meet production schedules.

Candidates should be comfortable lifting up to 80 lb, using basic measuring tools, and participating in lean 5S+1 practices. The environment is noisy and dusty, requiring strong safety and communication with the team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Load correct size pallets on trim saw.
  • Operate machinery safely and train others as needed.
  • Inspect product for defects and document results.
  • Perform weekly EHS audits.
  • Read production schedules and stage doors for shipping.
  • Use a Tape Measure and Caliper.
  • Maintain downtime records and housekeeping.

3rd Shift: Monday - Friday 11:00pm - 7:30am

Pay Rate: $19 plus Shift Differential

Job Description:
  • Manually load correct size pallets on trim saw machine
  • Operate machinery required for particular position in a safe and efficient manner, to include training of new and existing operators in the carrying out of their duties.
  • Inspect product for defects and take appropriate action as per work instructions, monitor Quality Technician for consistency
  • Carry out measurements and weight checks
  • Assemble product as per instructions with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Practice Masonite Lean Manufacturing Techniques including 5S+1
  • Communicate efficiently with other employees and the leadership team in order to ensure quality product is made timely
  • Read and interpret list counts and complete all departmental paperwork correctly and timely
  • Perform weekly EHS audits
  • Participate in Safety Kaizens and Haleyville Masonite Plant Kaizens
  • Help create/implement poke yokes for quality issues
  • Read, understand and follow production schedules
  • Process transactions
  • Set up and adjust equipment
  • Gather materials as needed
  • Operate motorized equipment (ie forklift, KVAL lifts, etc) as needed
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance and operator care as required
  • Assist Management, Maintenance and Quality personnel when troubleshooting equipment, process or material issues
  • Communicate effectively for flow of product through the plant
  • Maintain downtime records and production information as appropriate
  • Perform housekeeping duties
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Work safely and follow safety rules and procedures
  • Use a Tape Measure, Caliper
  • Use push carts
  • Pre-operation buffer and buffing pad(s) inspection
  • Buffs edge of doors on pallets following the SOP
  • Performs minor repairs
  • Straightens doors
  • Pushes pallet of doors on conveyor
  • Stage doors for shipping
Knowledge:
  • Read interpret ticket
  • Basic reading and writing skills
  • Ability to add and subtract fractions and whole numbers, convert fractions to decimals
Skills:
  • Use of power buffer
  • Use of hammer
  • Use putty knife, putty, and touch up paint using a foam brush
  • Ability to use machinery and do minor repairs
  • Demonstrate teamwork on a daily basis
Responsibility:

Works with little to no supervision. Ensure all doors are buffed smoothed to the touch and no visible fiber raise. Ensure all quality standards are met within the

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift/slide/flip up to 80 lb doors/pallets. Push pallets of doors, bending, twisting, stooping, and standing for long continuous hours while placing pallets.

Mental Demands:

Fast paced job with continuous focus on door sizes and loading correct sized pallets. Helping in other areas as needed

Social:

Communication skills with upstream and downstream departments.

Working Environment:

Mildly controlled environment - can expect some cold and heat during extreme weather conditions. High traffic, high dust, and noisy environment. Constant attention to surroundings due to multiple ground level conveyor tracks.
