Job summary

Owens Corning in Fort Mill, SC is seeking a dedicated operator for the 3rd shift (Mon-Fri, 11:00pm-7:30am). You will load pallets, operate trim saws, inspect products for defects, and assist with maintenance while following strict safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include following production schedules, completing paperwork, and collaborating with maintenance and quality teams. Candidates should be able to lift and handle pallets and work in a high-traffic, dusty environment.

Responsibilities

3rd Shift: Monday - Friday 11:00pm - 7:30am

Job Description

• Manually load correct size pallets on trim saw machine
• Operate machinery required for particular position in a safe and efficient manner, to include training of new and existing operators in the carrying out of their duties.
• Inspect product for defects and take appropriate action as per work instructions, monitor Quality Technician for consistency
• Carry out measurements and weight checks
• Assemble product as per instructions with a focus on quality and safety.
• Communicate efficiently with other employees and the leadership team in order to ensure quality product is made timely
• Read and interpret list counts and complete all departmental paperwork correctly and timely
• Perform weekly EHS audits
• Participate in Safety Kaizens and Haleyville Masonite Plant Kaizens
• Help create/implement poke yokes for quality issues
• Read, understand and follow production schedules
• Process transactions
• Set up and adjust equipment
• Gather materials as needed
• Operate motorized equipment (ie forklift, KVAL lifts, etc) as needed
• Perform minor preventative maintenance and operator care as required
• Assist Management, Maintenance and Quality personnel when troubleshooting equipment, process or material issues
• Communicate effectively for flow of product through the plant
• Maintain downtime records and productioninformation as appropriate
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment
• Work safely and follow safety rules and procedures
• Use a Tape Measure, Caliper
• Use push carts
• Pre-operation buffer and buffing pad(s) inspection
• Buffs edge of doors on pallets following the SOP
• Pushes pallet of doors on conveyor
• Stage doors for shipping

Works with little to no supervision. Ensure all doors are buffed smoothed to the touch and no visible fiber raise. Ensure all quality standards are met within the

Physical Demands

Ability to lift/slide/flip up to 80 lb doors/pallets. Push pallets of doors, bending, twisting, stooping, and standing for long continuous hours while placing pallets.

Mental Demands

Fast paced job with continuous focus on door sizes and loading correct sized pallets. Helping in other areas as needed

Social

Communication skills with upstream and downstream departments.

Mildly controlled environment - can expect some cold and heat during extreme weather conditions. High traffic, high dust, and noisy environment. Constant attention to surroundings due to multiple ground level conveyor tracks.
