Virtual Labs is seeking a Palantir Foundry SME – Databricks Migration Engineer in Cleveland, OH. This hybrid role requires a senior, hands-on engineer who can reverse-engineer Foundry implementations and rebuild equivalent capabilities on Databricks.

The candidate will lead client-facing sessions, explain trade-offs, and push back when needed, drawing on 12+ years of experience in data engineering and analytics.

Qualifications

• Senior, hands-on engineer with deep Foundry knowledge to reverse-engineer builds.
• Client-facing role with ability to run workshops and explain trade-offs.
• 12+ years of total experience in data engineering or related fields.
• Strong Databricks experience: PySpark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, workflows/pipelines.
• Proven ability to translate business workflows into working applications.

Responsibilities

• Migrate client from Palantir Foundry to Databricks and rebuild equivalent capabilities.
• Reverse-engineer existing Foundry implementations and re-create on Databricks.
• Engage with client stakeholders, run sessions, and present trade-offs.

Role: Palantir Foundry SME – Databricks Migration Engineer

Location: Cleveland, OH (Hybrid)

About the role

Our client is currently on Palantir Foundry. We're proposing to migrate them off Palantir and rebuild equivalent capabilities on Databricks. We need a senior, hands-on engineer who knows Foundry deeply enough to reverse-engineer what's been built, and can rebuild it on Databricks. This is a client-facing, high-visibility role, not a back-office dev position.

Must have

• Worked at Palantir as an FDE/FDSE/Deployment Strategist, or worked on the client side building on Foundry for a meaningful period (not just exposure)
• Hands-on with Foundry Ontology (object types, links, actions, functions), Pipeline Builder, Code Repositories, and Workshop apps
• Strong Databricks experience: PySpark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, workflows/pipelines
• Strong Python and SQL
• Has designed data models and translated business workflows into working applications
• Comfortable in front of client stakeholders: can run working sessions, explain trade-offs, push back when needed
• 12+ years total experience

Nice to have

• Prior Foundry-to-other-platform migration experience
• AIP / Databricks Mosaic AI, agents, or GenAI use cases in production
• Knowledge graph or semantic layer experience
• App-layer build experience (Databricks Apps, React, Streamlit)
• Manufacturing, retail, or product data domain background
