Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a seasoned data-architecture consultant to design and govern the enterprise ontology within Palantir Foundry. You will ensure metadata, permissions, and ontology objects are consistent, reusable, secure, and scalable across multiple projects.

You will lead ontology modeling with Palantir Ontology Manager, define metadata standards, manage lifecycle, and collaborate with engineers, governance teams, and clients in the DC metro area.

Qualifications

  • Active and maintained SECRET security clearance (Federal or DoD).
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant professional experience with 3+ years in data modeling, information architecture, metadata management, ontology management, or data governance.
  • Experience designing and maintaining ontologies within Palantir Foundry.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise metadata management and information architecture principles.
  • Experience defining and governing enterprise data standards.
  • Knowledge of identity, permissions, and access control concepts.
  • Experience supporting shared enterprise platforms across multiple teams.
  • Familiarity with API design and integration patterns.
  • Strong SQL skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, govern, and evolve enterprise ontology within Palantir Foundry.
  • Define and govern metadata standards across applications and portfolios.
  • Manage lifecycle of ontology objects: creation, versioning, deprecation, stewardship.
  • Monitor ontology usage and drive reuse while reducing duplication.
  • Collaborate with application teams to align ontology with enterprise standards.
  • Design and maintain APIs and integration patterns for shared ontology access.
  • Develop governance processes for ontology promotion and change management.
  • Support data access, permission, and group management.
  • Ensure ontology metadata aligns with Enterprise Metadata Schema and Data Asset Inventory.
  • Advise clients on enterprise information architecture and governance best practices.
  • Develop trusted client relationships and contribute to proposals and capability briefings.
  • Support business development with white papers, demonstrations, and pitch decks.

What You Will Do

Design, govern, and evolve the enterprise information architecture within Palantir Foundry. This role is responsible for ensuring ontology objects, metadata, permissions, and enterprise data structures remain consistent, reusable, secure, and scalable across multiple applications and projects. They serve as the steward of the enterprise ontology by balancing application-specific needs with long-term enterprise reuse, consistency, security, and interoperability.

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise ontology models using Palantir Ontology Manager.
  • Define and govern enterprise metadata standards to ensure consistent implementation across applications, domains, and portfolios.
  • Manage the lifecycle of enterprise ontology objects, including creation, promotion, versioning, deprecation, and stewardship.
  • Monitor ontology usage and identify opportunities to improve reuse, reduce duplication, and resolve conflicts across projects.
  • Partner with application teams to ensure ontology objects align with enterprise standards while meeting business needs.
  • Design and maintain APIs and integration patterns that enable consistent access to shared ontology objects and API gateway principals.
  • Develop governance processes for enterprise ontology promotion, object ownership, and change management.
  • Support data access, permission, and group management by helping define appropriate access models and governance practices.
  • Ensure ontology objects, metadata, and related assets are accurately cataloged and aligned with the Enterprise Metadata Schema and Data Asset Inventory.
  • Advise clients on enterprise information architecture, ontology design, metadata management, and governance best practices.
  • Develop trusted relationships with client stakeholders and support business development efforts including proposals, white papers, demonstrations, and capability briefings.
  • Support business development efforts (e.g., responding to RFPs/RFIs, developing white papers, creating pitch decks and capability briefings, etc.).
What You Will Need
  • ACTIVE and MAINTAINED SECRET Federal or DoD security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field is required
  • A minimum SIX (6) years of relevant professional experience, including at least THREE (3) years of hands‑on experience in enterprise data modeling, information architecture, metadata management, ontology management, or data governance is required.
  • Experience designing and maintaining ontologies within Palantir Foundry.
  • Understanding of enterprise metadata management and information architecture principles.
  • Experience defining and governing enterprise data standards.
  • Understanding of identity, permissions, group management, and access control concepts.
  • Experience supporting shared enterprise platforms used by multiple application teams.
  • Familiarity with API design and integration patterns.
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts.
  • Ability to balance business requirements with long‑term enterprise architecture and governance objectives.
  • Strong collaboration skills with engineers, product owners, governance teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to support remote, hybrid, and on‑site projects in the DC metro area.
What Would Be Nice To Have
  • NINE (9) years’ experience in hands‑on data modeling and/or data architecture.
  • ACTIVE or ability to gain TOP SECRET Federal or DoD security clearance.
  • Experience implementing enterprise metadata catalogs or data asset inventories.
  • Experience designing governance processes for ontology lifecycle management.
  • Experience resolving ontology conflicts, duplication, and enterprise data standardization challenges.
  • Experience supporting classified data environments.
  • Proficiency using SQL to validate and analyze enterprise data structures.
