Job description

Location: Camden, NJ (Hybrid initially, with remote flexibility)

Employment Type: Contract - Initial 6 months, with potential for extension or contract-to-hire

A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Palantir Foundry Engineer to support the implementation and enhancement of its data platform, integrating complex legacy systems and developing operational data solutions to improve business processes.

This is an exciting contract opportunity to contribute to a major healthcare data initiative focused on improving insurance claims processing and reimbursement workflows. The successful candidate will work across data engineering, data modelling, system integration, and Palantir Foundry ontology development to transform complex source data into practical, production-ready solutions.

We are specifically seeking a hands-on engineer with strong Python, SQL, data pipeline development, and data modelling experience. Previous Palantir Foundry experience is highly desirable but not essential for candidates who can demonstrate strong engineering fundamentals and experience building operational data systems.

This role goes beyond traditional reporting and dashboard development. You will work directly with technical teams, business stakeholders, and customer representatives to understand existing systems, identify opportunities for improvement, and build solutions that support real-world operational workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain data solutions within Palantir Foundry, including building and extending the ontology layer
  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and process information from multiple legacy and proprietary systems
  • Map complex source data into consistent data models and Foundry ontologies to support downstream business processes
  • Build and maintain reliable ETL/ELT workflows to ensure data is accurately processed, structured, and accessible
  • Integrate disparate systems with different data formats, structures, and standards into a unified data environment
  • Develop functional, data-driven tools and operational systems that enable users to interact with data and support business decisions
  • Work with structured datasets, data transformations, and business-oriented data models to solve complex engineering challenges
  • Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and customer representatives to gather requirements and understand existing workflows
  • Translate evolving business requirements and customer feedback into practical technical solutions
  • Support the development of data solutions that improve healthcare claims processing, reimbursement workflows, and operational efficiency
  • Troubleshoot data quality issues, integration challenges, and pipeline performance problems across complex data environments
  • Maintain, enhance, and scale production systems as business requirements and customer needs evolve
  • Take ownership of technical challenges, identify opportunities for improvement, and deliver solutions with minimal supervision
  • Work on-site with the customer initially to develop an understanding of their systems, workflows, and business requirements before transitioning towards a more remote working arrangement
Required Qualifications
  • Ideally 5-10 years of overall industry experience in data engineering, software engineering, data modelling, or a related technical discipline
  • Mandatory hands-on experience with Python and SQL
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, data modelling, and data integration
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining production data pipelines and data processing systems
  • Experience with ETL/ELT processes, data transformations, and integrating multiple source systems
  • Ability to work with complex data structures and translate business requirements into effective data models
  • Experience building functional data-driven tools or operational systems beyond static dashboards and reporting
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges independently
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in environments where requirements evolve and solutions require independent thought and initiative
  • Must be based in the United States and able to accommodate the initial on-site requirements in Camden, New Jersey
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous hands-on experience developing solutions within Palantir Foundry, ideally around 12 months or more
  • Experience building, extending, or maintaining Palantir Foundry ontologies
  • Experience developing applications or operational tools using TypeScript
  • Experience with PySpark and distributed data processing
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake
  • Experience working within healthcare organizations or handling healthcare data
  • Knowledge of healthcare payer operations, insurance claims processing, or reimbursement workflows
  • Experience integrating legacy systems and transforming complex enterprise data into operational solutions
What We're Looking For

We are seeking a hands-on Palantir Foundry Engineer who combines strong data engineering fundamentals with the ability to build practical, business-facing systems.

The ideal candidate can demonstrate real-world examples of data pipelines, data models, integrations, and operational tools they have developed. You should be comfortable explaining your technical decisions, understanding how your work supports business processes, and taking ownership of challenges in an evolving project environment.
