Job description

In Pfizer Specialty Care Patient Solutions, we collaborate with patients and patient advocates to develop breakthrough treatments and innovative approaches to address patient challenges. These partnerships help increase patient engagement in research and development, diversify clinical trials, develop patient-friendly educational materials and support programs, and elevate policy and social impact issues.

Why Patients Need You :

Pfizer Specialty Care Patient Solutions is seeking a compassionate, strategic, and organized Patient Navigator (PN) to join our U.S. Patient Engagement Team. The PN will serve as a guide for patients through their healthcare journey by providing resources to help ensure they understand their disease and available support options.

The PN will be integrated into Pfizer's cross-functional ecosystem to ensure all patients receive the support they need. The role involves triaging patients appropriately to reimbursement and support resources, compliant with regulations.

The PN is a field-based, community-facing role for individuals living with heart disease and ATTR-CM and their caregivers. The primary responsibility is to educate patients about the disease. The PN reports directly to the Patient Engagement Director.

Objectives of the Patient Navigator (PN) Role:

  • Patient Education: Educate patients and caregivers about ATTR-CM, local support offerings, and health resources, and appropriately triage to Pfizer resources.
  • Patient Navigation: Assist patients in connecting with Pfizer resources, without handling reimbursement support or pharmacy interactions.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with Pfizer colleagues to align patient educational efforts and offerings.

What You Will Achieve :

  • Provide education and guidance to address patient questions and needs.
  • Assist patients in navigating their care and connecting to resources.
  • Coordinate with advocacy and professional relations teams at events, presenting approved materials.
  • Use motivational interviewing to identify patient needs and tailor engagement strategies.
  • Engage with patients through in-person and virtual meetings, providing educational materials and building trust.

How You Will Have Impact :

  • Work within a specific region to educate and connect patients to Pfizer-approved resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies in collaboration with legal and compliance teams.
  • Represent the Pfizer Patient Navigator role at various events, including virtual and in-person exhibits.
  • Engage with patients and caregivers through multiple channels, providing insights to inform educational material development.
  • Organize travel and materials for regional and national events efficiently.

Outcome :

  • Work towards measurable patient engagement goals and be accountable for them.

Basic Qualifications

  • B.S. or B.A. Degree required.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or related fields, preferably in Rare Disease.
  • Exceptional communication, listening, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment with adherence to compliance guidelines.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in responsible business practices and compassionate communication.
  • Understanding of Pfizer and industry compliance guidelines, especially regarding medical and reimbursement colleagues.
  • Ability to deliver clear and empathetic presentations.
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to travel at least 50%, with events primarily on weekends and evenings.

Preferred Knowledge & Skill Sets:

  • Clinical background (e.g., RN, APRN, NP, LCSW, MPH) highly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of ATTR-CM and the Rare Disease community.
  • Remote or field-based work preferred, residing within the specified geography.
  • Bilingual proficiency in speaking and reading in certain areas.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., POLARIS CRM).
