Job summary

ShalePro Energy Services is looking for an Industrial Painter to prepare surfaces, mix and apply paints, and maintain equipment in a field or shop environment. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety guidelines, and the ability to work with different painting tools and materials.

The position involves cleaning work areas, documenting quality checks, and ensuring proper disposal of hazardous materials. Experience with epoxy paints and surface prep techniques is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial equipment painting and process piping.
• Knowledge of wet painting with a spray gun and blasting media.
• Familiarity with NACE requirements and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces by masking, grit blast, pressure wash, and cleaning.
• Prepare and mix paints using viscosity and gloss measurements; epoxy paints where required.
• Apply paint using spray equipment, rollers, or brushes; select appropriate tools.
• Maintain clean work areas and follow hazardous waste handling guidelines.
• Maintain and troubleshoot painting equipment.
• Monitor conditions and document turnover packages; conduct millage testing.

To accomplish their primary goal of painting and coating surfaces, Industrial Painters perform many tasks.

Clean and Prepare Surfaces

Industrial Painters must first prepare the surface they are going to paint. If there are previous finishes on the surface, they remove them using masking, grit blast, pressure washing, tool cleaning or chemical rinse. Then, they clean and smooth the surface and let it dry before painting.

Prepare Paints

Before starting a job, Industrial Painters prepare the paint they will use. They use measurement equipment such as viscosity cups, thickness gages and gloss gages to check the makeup of the paint, and use their understanding of chemistry to mix the appropriate compounds for the job. Many projects will require an epoxy paint application.

Apply Paint

Painters use a variety of techniques and tools to paint surfaces. Candidate may use spray equipment, airbrushes, stencils, rollers or brushes. Industrial painters must choose the best tool for the job at hand. Candidate must paint on primers, pre-finishes and finishing coats. Some Industrial Painters must use special safety equipment such as self-contained suits, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) or protective eyewear.

Clean Work Areas

Industrial Painters clean up the area after they have finished a job. Candidate must carefully follow all guidelines for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals and waste. Minimizing overspray is critical to overall project success.
