Job summary

A leading aviation company in Indianapolis is seeking a skilled painter to lay out and perform various painting assignments on aircraft. Responsibilities include preparing surfaces, performing painting operations, and maintaining painting equipment. Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, and prior experience is preferred. This role also requires obtaining an airport security badge. A sign-on bonus of $4,000 is available, subject to terms and conditions.

Qualifications

  • Related experience is preferred.
  • Experience in painting or aerospace finishing is a plus.

  • Perform painting operations including prepping, stripping, and cleaning.

Job Summary

To layout, mark and perform the more complicated painting assignments on new delivery and customer-owned aircraft, to meet Quality Control inspection and customer acceptance.

Job Responsibilities
  • Working from oral and written instruction, regularly perform painting operations to include prepping, stripping, sanding, cleaning
  • Working from oral and written instruction, regularly perform painting rework on the completed aircraft (both exterior and interior surfaces), using extreme care to avoid overspray damage to other areas of the aircraft
  • Frequently involves matching of some special paint finishes applied in the field, both foreign and domestic
  • Understanding of equipment and understand the fundamentals in use and adjustment, cleaning and servicing spray guns, paint pots, hoses, and other spray equipment
  • Apply fillers, prep, prime, and paint small and large surfaces to include items as large as fuselage, tails, and wings
  • Understand and show proficiency in different masking and preparation techniques for stripping and paint operations
  • Keep inventory of supplies and order in advance to assure needed items are on hand
Education
  • High School Diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification required.
Experience
  • Related experience is preferred.
Qualifications
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport security badge through the local airport authority, if applicable
  • Ability to interpret simple drawings, apply simple arithmetic and use some measuring instruments.
