Job description

Summary

This position is responsible for performing all blasting and painting tasks necessary to prime, coat, and finish pressure vessels, piping, and structural weldments after assembly. The goal is to provide a quality finish on FORUM fabricated products, using the finishing consumables provided, according to qualified coating procedures, within the production schedule, and in accordance with Forum US, Inc. Quality Requirements.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Set up and blast with sand, shot, or grit.
• Spray paint (airless).
• Achieve and maintain consistent Dry Film Thickness (DFT).
• Knowledgeable in coating types and application methods.
• Service blast and paint equipment.
• Operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Work at a moderate pace.
• Work safely at all times.

Number of direct quality incidents should be fewer than 12 per year.

Skills/Knowledge

• Strong coating knowledge and technical proficiency in a structural steel manufacturing environment.
• Class-appropriate level of experience.
• Knowledge of shop scheduling, material provisions, shop layout, and process throughput is highly encouraged.
• Cross-training in mechanical assembly is preferred.
• Cross-training in weld shop is preferred.

Education

• A high school diploma or vocational school diploma is desired.

Experience

• 1-3 years of experience in a related field.
