Job summary

Whirlwind Steel is seeking a Spray Painter to apply primers and finishing coats to metal surfaces, ensuring quality and safety standards. You will prepare surfaces, mix coatings, and operate spray equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, experience with overhead cranes and forklifts, and strict adherence to safety protocols. You will maintain a clean workspace and collaborate with a team to meet production goals.

Responsibilities

• Clean surfaces by removing grease, dirt and contaminants using solvents and cleaners.
• Select and mix coating liquids to match desired colors and specifications.
• Pour coating liquids into spray containers and adjust spray equipment for optimal width and pressure.
• Apply primers and finishing coats with the spray gun for even coverage and quality finish.
• Remove rust from metal surfaces using grinders, wire brushes or steel wool.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment at all times.
• Operate overhead cranes and monorail paint hoists to position items for painting.

Job Summary:

The Spray Painter is responsible for expertly applying protective primer and finishing coats to machines, manufactured products, or designated work areas. This role ensures surfaces are properly prepared and painted to meet quality and safety standards. The Spray Painter contributes to maintaining a clean, organized workspace while adhering to company safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean surfaces by removing grease, dirt, and other contaminants using materials such as lacquer thinner, turpentine, soap, and water.
• Select and mix coating liquids to match desired colors and specifications using paddle or mechanical mixers.
• Pour coating liquids into spray containers, connect spray guns to air hoses, and adjust sprayer valves and nozzles for optimal spray width and pressure.
• Skillfully apply primers and finishing coats by directing the spray gun to ensure even coverage and quality finish.
• Remove rust from metal surfaces using grinders, wire brushes, or steel wool as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
• Operate overhead cranes and monorail paint hoists to manage and position items for painting.
