Responsibilities

  • Prepare areas to be painted and perform painting, patching and finishing.
  • Paint and repair surfaces throughout facilities and furnishings.
  • Prepare surfaces using spackle, plaster, and paint matching techniques.
  • Install wallpaper and wall coverings where required.
  • Maintain caulked, grouted, wood and masonry surfaces; manage supplies.
  • Follow OSHA/MSDS guidelines and ensure proper ventilation.
  • Thoroughly clean area, supplies and equipment after project completion.

POSITION SUMMARY:

A Painter Maintenance Technician's primary role is to plan and perform a variety of painting, projects and refinishing activities required to ensure maintenance of facility aesthetics. Performs additional department related duties as requested by Facility Management Team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares area(s) to be painted by cleaning, or if necessary, scraping, sanding, patching, and masking of adjacent surfaces prior to painting, papering, texturing, etc.
  • Paint, maintain and repair painted, wall-covered, stained, and varnished surfaces of building structures, rooms, furniture, and equipment throughout the facilities
  • Prepare and paint surfaces using techniques and tools including, but not limited to, measuring surfaces, applying spackle and plaster, mixing paint, matching paint, and using brushes, rollers, and spray-guns
  • Install and repair covered wall and ceiling surfaces including, but not limited to, hanging vinyl paper, fabric, and foil wall coverings
  • Maintain and repair caulked, grouted, wood and masonry surfaces requiring staining, varnishing, and lacquering
  • Manage related supply inventory
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Follows OSHA/MSDS guidelines with respect to use of hazardous chemicals; uses proper ventilation when using paint removers, varnishes, cleaners, etc.
  • Familiarizes him/herself with storage and disposal laws, regulations, codes, etc.
  • Thoroughly cleans area, supplies, and equipment when project is completed
Education/Experience:
  • 5 to 10 years of experience as a professional painter
  • Private club, hotel or resort experience preferred.
  • Experience in the construction field is a plus.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to comfortably work in an intensely deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to use systems and technology to manage work orders
Qualifications/Skills

  • Work environment frequently involves exposure to drywall dust and paint fumes; adherence to dust containment protocols in luxury club spaces is mandatory. Must be at least 18 years old and available to work a varied schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
Licenses or Certificates
  • Certifications and training in painting is a plus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and operate; reach with hands and arms; and see, talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk, bend, kneel, climb, crawl into small spaces, push, pull, reach and occasionally lift and/or move 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to use step ladders, extension ladders, and 6ft scaffolding.
  • The job consists of both inside and outside work. Precautions should be taken for work performed outside for extended periods of time.
