Job summary

GDIT is seeking a Painter, Junior to support exterior painting and coatings at our Virginia site in Norfolk. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of painting experience and a High School Diploma or GED, with NAVSEA 009-11 familiarity preferred.

You will prepare surfaces, apply coatings, and assist with lagging tasks on-site with a team. Safety and quality are essential to the role.

Qualifications

• Paints, stains, enamels, varnishes, lacquers and redecorates interior and exterior surfaces.
• Mixes paint and matches colors to achieve desired .
• Uses cloth, brushes, sprayer, roller, and/or sponges to apply paint or other coatings.
• Removes old finish using scrapers, chemical compounds, or a blowtorch.
• May fill nail holes, joints and cracks in walls with plaster or other filler.
• May replace door or window glass.
• Requisitions new painting supplies and equipment.
• Participates in special projects, as required.
• Requires a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience.

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $23.30 - $28.75. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
