Job summary

Strategic Storage Partners, LLC is seeking an experienced industrial painter to perform blasting and coating of process piping and equipment on site in Plaquemine, LA. The role requires surface prep, coatings, and operation of spray equipment with attention to safety standards.

You will also assist the maintenance team when painting is not required, performing related trades helper duties and ensuring QA/QC procedures are followed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required and practical painting experience.
  • 4–5 years in industrial painting with knowledge of safety standards.
  • Ability to read MSDS and follow manufacturer specifications.
  • Must pass respirator fit test and respiratory examinations as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform industrial blasting and painting of piping, tanks, and structures as specified.
  • Prepare surfaces, mix primers/paints, and apply coatings per FFPO specs.
  • Operate air compressors, spray equipment, ladders, and confinement-safe tools.
  • Assist maintenance tasks when painting is unavailable, including basic repairs.
  • Maintain logs and keep tools and work areas clean and safe.

Job description

Under close supervision the primary function is to perform industrial blasting and painting of all process piping and process equipment and structures in the facility. When rain and/or inclement weather prevents painting, or when directed, this position will also assist the maintenance department personnel with various maintenance tasks.Typical industrial painting tasks would include: The removal of old paint from process piping or other equipment surfaces using paint removers, scrapers, wire brushes, or abrasive blasting to prepare surfaces for painting, and the subsequent coating of this equipment according to manufacturer\?s and FFPO specifications. Tasks would also include picking-up trash and debris generated by all painting activities, cleaning all equipment used in painting activities and driving company supplied vehicles (truck and utility vehicles) on site to the area to be worked.Perform proper surface preparation and coating applications for buildings, piping systems, steel structures, cement, drywall, and wood surfaces. Projects would include the surface preparation and coating of above ground storage tanks, process equipment, pump skids, process piping, structural supports, structural framing, and other industrial equipment and structures. Perform complete, partial or touch-up painting on these systems. Certain tasks will be performed in confined space locations.Set-up and operation of air compressors, abrasive blasting pots, forklifts, manlifts, and other equipment typically used in industrial painting. Set-up, operation, troubleshooting, cleaning and maintenance of airless and conventional spray methods and equipment. Set-up, operation and maintenance of air filtration systems and CO2 monitors for breathing air. Use of hand tool and power tool painting equipment such as power washers, spray equipment and various tool cleaning devices.Mixing industrial paints and primers, along with reducers and/or additives to promote drying and adhesion. Set-up and use of ladders and scaffolds and the ability to work at elevations required to access all storage tanks and other process equipment on the facility. the operation of forklifts, manlifts, and other equipment required to access all storage tanks and other process equipment requiring coating. Operate industrial blasting and painting equipment and all other equipment utilized in the industrial painting industry.When painting is not needed or when directed, perform the duties of a maintenance trades helper which would typically include: assisting one or more workers in certain skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill, such as keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools; cleaning the working area and/or equipment located in the field or in the maintenance shop; assisting journeyman by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed. Typical overall maintenance tasks would include the repair, inspection, and functional testing of motor operated valves, associated valve actuators, various instrumentation systems and various electrical and hydraulic control systems.Maintain daily logs, records, charts, certifications, licenses and permits with respect to QA/QC and ISO 9001 procedures. Maintain assigned tools, equipment, and work areas in a neat, orderly and safe manner.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED: High school Diploma or GED, and a minimum of 4 - 5 years practical experience in industrial painting, or similar work, and corresponding experience in utilizing and operating industrial painting equipment and/or tools. Must have knowledge of safety standards/precautions pertaining to industrial painting and the ability to read and follow MSDS and manufacturer's Data Sheet recommendations and requirements. Must be able to pass respirator fit test and respiratory physicals as needed. Ability to work well independently and on a team.CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES: Valid Class E State Drivers License.
