Job description

We are looking for a Painter/Loader in Rowley Ma.

Pay is $25-27 an hour DOE

Major Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and properly mix paint and solvents per manufacturer specifications
  • Prepare and paint materials in accordance with defined SSPC specifications and job requirements
  • Prepare no paint and blocking areas per job specification
  • Ensure proper cure time between coats as outlined per manufacturers specifications
  • Organize and coordinate loading of outgoing deliveries with Shipping Coordinator
  • Daily monitoring of environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point)
  • Maintain accurate application records including time of mix, activation time, and application time on a per pot basis in compliance with third party inspection agency requirements
  • Efficiently and fiscally manage paint and supply inventory
  • Responsible for quality inspection of own workmanship, addressing significant discrepancies, and for discussing marginal discrepancies with supervisor as needed to determine if corrective action is necessary

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication and erection drawings
  • Able to review and interpret MSDS and Technical Paint Data Sheets
  • Able to safely operate airless spay unit to achieve a proper aesthetic finish
  • Able to safely operate blasting machine to prepare surface per project specifications
  • Ability to use a DeFelsko device for measurement of wet film and dry film thickness
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measure with 1/16-inch graduations
  • Ability to safely use a variety of hand and power tools including a wood chop saw
  • Ability to safely operate shop overhead crane system as well as yard lifting equipment such as Combi-Lift, fixed mast forklift, Straddle Carrier (Big Bird) including knowledge of equipment weight hoisting limitations
  • Ability to safely load and stack materials onto trailers and/or truck flatbeds
  • Ability to operate Yard Horse for safe movement of loaded and unloaded trailers

Required Skills/Abilities - Continued

  • Good communication skills, able to work with others in a fast-paced production focused environment
  • Comfortable with using technology in a paperless environment, including the use of administrative and production related software programs
  • Quality and safety minded

Position Qualification Minimums (Education, Training, Experience)

  • High school education or equivalent
  • State Issued driver’s license in good standing
  • Four years of experience or equivalent training in spray painting techniques for airless spay systems and application of primer paints
  • Broad knowledge of Steel Structure Painting Council (SSPC) standards
  • Three to five years of material handling experience or equivalent training
  • Three to five years of experience in proper use of yard equipment or equivalent training
