Job summary

Liebherr USA is seeking a Painter to apply protective coatings to equipment, components, and tooling. The role requires familiarity with airless spray methods, specialty coatings, and proper PPE; training or related experience is valued.

A respirator test may be required, and candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The position offers competitive pay and benefits within a global company with a Newport News production footprint.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year related experience or training.
• Ability to pass respirator test.

Responsibilities

• Paints fabricated or purchased components using airless or air-assisted airless spraying with minimal rework.
• Applies specialty coatings such as anti-skid and decals as needed.
• Rebuilds pump heads, legs, and spray guns as required.
• Adheres to customer color specifications and coating requirements.
• Ensures correct paint mil-thickness and proper material ratios.
• Operates and maintains spray equipment and PPE as per SDS.
• May require forklift/gantry/scissor lift certification when needed.

Job description

The Painter is responsible for application of protective coatings on Equipment, components, and tooling as necessary.

• This position is not eligible for sponsorship. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties

• Paints fabricated or purchased components using minimum required material, without rework on a regular basis; primary methods used are airless and air-assisted airless spraying.
• Applies “specialty” coatings, i.e., anti-skid, decals, etc. as needed.
• Rebuilds pump head/legs/spray guns as needed.
• Knows all customer requirements, i.e., colors, anti-skid coatings, etc.
• Applies paint in the proper mil-thickness.
• Knows “solids” and is able to explain the importance.
• Works on spray guns i.e., rebuilds air assist gun, g-10 type gun, and conventional cup gun.
• Mixes properly materials to the correct ratio.
• Knows needed materials and labor-hour requirements per job.
• Knows all products used within the department.
• Handles Hazardous Materials according to SDS.
• Knowledge and discipline of correct PPE according to activity.
• May Require Forklift/ Gantry/ Scissor lift use and certification.

Competencies

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to pass respirator test.
