Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Building Trades, the Painter II is responsible for operating and coordinating all work in the Maintenance Paint Shop. Responsibilities include painting and finishing interior and exterior surfaces of buildings and equipment, using hand and power tools, completing work logs, ensuring work meets plans and specifications, and coordinating with other trades. The role also involves maintaining order and supervising individuals in custody, ensuring security, and inspecting premises for contraband. Additional duties may include glazing, sign making, and engraving. Must be able to read and write at an appropriate level. Physical and safety requirements include potential examinations and certifications in aerial lift, forklift operations, and defensive driving, along with possible participation in asbestos, lead, and confined space programs.
