  • Cleans spraying equipment with solvent.
  • Cleans grease and dirt from product using various products.
  • Fills, grinds, and sands repaired surfaces.
  • Fills depressions with body filler.
  • Visually examines and feels the surface of the work piece.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

An individual in this capacity can perform all of the functions listed below. The primary functions of this position consist of applying finish paint to the surfaces of the manufactured products such as body sides and cabs: repairing surface defects in the bodies or cabs, including the cleaning, grinding, filling and sanding of these surfaces, and applying a protective primer to these surfaces using a spray gun.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs preparation work prior to painting, such as repairing surface defects, sanding and cleaning.
  • Applies masking tape or other material over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
  • Mixes paints and catalyst prior to applying, pours coating liquid into a pressure pot, and connects the gun to an air hose.
  • Regulates the width and pressure of spray according to knowledge of painting technique and commences spraying the work surface to apply primer or finish coat.
  • Cleans spraying equipment with solvent, using proper personal protection and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Cleans grease and dirt from product using various products depending on the situation.
  • Fills, grinds, and sands repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
  • Fills depressions with body filler, and may file dings to remove burrs and rough spots to attain a smooth surface.
  • May prime or paint surfaces after performing body repair.
  • Visually examines and feels the surface of the work piece to achieve required results.

Performs other work as assigned.
