Job Responsibilities

1. Apply paint, varnishes, and stains to interior and/or exterior surfaces.
2. Prepare surfaces for painting by removing old paint, using paint remover, scraper, wire brush, or blowtorch. Fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler, using caulking gun and putty knife.
3. Prime surfaces as necessary.
4. Choose appropriate paint according to the application of the job.
5. Inspect, repair, install, modify, rebuild, construct, and maintain woodwork, drywall, ceiling tiles, and related structures.
6. Use creativity and judgment to perform tasks.
7. Familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures in the field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
8. Perform a variety of complex tasks.
9. May lead and direct the work of others.
10. Perform clerical duties and read blueprints.
11. Provide support services in other fields within the Facilities Department.

Qualifications

1. At least 5 years of experience in the field or related area.
2. General knowledge of electrical distribution, HVAC, plumbing, Life/Safety Systems, boilers, chillers, emergency power systems, UPS systems, pumps, motors, VFDs, and Energy Management Systems.
3. Working knowledge of computers.
4. Prefer prior Casino/Hotel experience.
5. Ability to learn and comply with laws and regulations affecting the casino and racing industry.
6. Excellent logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
7. Strong customer and employee relations skills.
8. Good written and verbal communication skills.
9. Physical mobility, including ability to carry up to 75 pounds and push/pull up to 150 pounds. Ability to maneuver in hotel areas, up and down stairs, and reach above shoulder level.
