Position also known as: Sign Fabricator, Painter, Fabrication Specialist
Working under general direction, the Fabrication Specialist is responsible for all aspects of the physical production of signs. Sign assembly includes preparing substrates and applying vinyl according to written instructions. You must also mount and/or laminate prints, which includes operating and setting up the laminator for over-laminating, encapsulation, or mounting of digitally imaged products. Operating specialized equipment including running a CNC router, painting with an HVLP paint spraying system, and processing photopolymer signs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow a layout to place computer-generated vinyl or full-graphic images on a predetermined substrate or medium.
- Prepare substrates for application, which may include cutting, routing, painting, laminating, cleaning, and maintaining the substrates for vinyl application.
- Weed excess vinyl from computer-cut images.
- Perform quality assurance measures before and after production.
- Perform finishing operations such as laminating, encapsulating, and/or mounting of printed pieces.
- Report inventory levels and stock to be reordered to the center manager/production manager or franchise partner.
- Help unload and store raw materials and clean and maintain storage areas.
- Work on different projects simultaneously.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs when necessary.
- Establish and maintain effective team relationships with all support departments.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.
- Utilize design software to operate the CNC router.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required; advanced education degree preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers and fractions, and converting fractions to decimals and vice versa).
- Able to work well under pressure to output high volume, high-quality work.
- Experience with paint spraying equipment is preferred.
- Experience operating a CNC router is preferred.
- Able to lift 50 or more pounds.
- Must have the flexibility to lean over a waist-high table and use back-and-forth hand motions to apply vinyl letters and graphics to a substrate.
- Able to use light power equipment and hand tools.
- Able to operate a forklift for unloading deliveries.
