Job summary

National Coatings in Raleigh, NC is seeking a skilled commercial painter to join our team and help deliver high-quality coating solutions.

You will prepare surfaces, apply finishes on exterior and interior projects, and ensure workmanship meets our rigorous quality standards. The role requires attention to detail, safety, and reliable transportation to job sites.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a commercial painter (exterior and interior)
• Experience with wallcoverings and coatings preferred
• Must adhere to safety protocols and procedures

Responsibilities

• Surface preparation including priming, sanding, sealing, and patching.
• Color matching to ensure paints match job files.
• Apply coatings to new, existing, and remodeled buildings.
• Represent the company professionally at client job sites.
• Interpret blueprints and specifications for accurate work.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Manage field change orders and submittals.
• Operate and maintain scaffolding, ladders, and spray systems.
• Keep tools and trucks clean and in good condition.
• Apply extensive knowledge of painting materials and methods.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces by priming, sanding, sealing, and patching, utilizing a variety of painting materials including varnish, lacquer, shellac, enamel, latex, epoxy, waterproofing, and heat-resistant finishes.
• Color Matching: Cross-check colors and confirm supplied products to match job files.
• Application Skills: Apply materials to new construction, existing, and remodeled buildings with precision and expertise.
• Professional Representation: Exhibit a professional demeanor and effectively represent the company while working at client job sites.
• Blueprint Interpretation: Understand and interpret blueprints and scope specifications to ensure accurate execution of painting tasks.
• Documentation: Complete required reports accurately and in a timely manner.
• Change Orders: Understand the importance of and proficiently complete field change orders and submittals.
• Equipment Proficiency: Trained and capable with multi-level scaffolding, extension ladders, and spray systems.
• Maintenance: Maintain tools, equipment, and assigned trucks, ensuring they are in optimal condition; always keep a clean and safe work area.
• Extensive Knowledge: Possess and apply in-depth knowledge of various painting materials and application methods.

Experience And Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a commercial painter - experience in both exterior and interior commercial painting, wallcoverings, and coatings highly preferred
• Exceptional attention to detail and quality craftsmanship
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to safety protocols and procedures
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
