Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University is seeking a skilled painter to maintain and refresh hospital interiors and exteriors. You will paint surfaces, prepare walls, and repair minor trim, ensuring durable, compliant finishes.

This on-site role participates in safety protocols, coordinates with trades, and manages supplies and tools to support continuous patient care and building upkeep.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous related painting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and paints interior and exterior surfaces as directed.
• Maintains and inventories painting supplies.
• Repairs wall coverings and minor carpentry as needed.
• Completes hospital rounds to identify regulatory compliance needs.
• Works with trades and performs other maintenance duties.
• Fills holes and prepares surfaces before painting.

• Prepares surfaces and applies paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures.
• Installs and repairs wall coverings as needed, as well as minor carpentry wall and ceiling repairs.
• Responsible for the maintenance and inventory of painting and related supplies.
• Must be available for flexible hours as needed.

Job Description

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson
• Paints, varnishes, stains, etc. existing and new surfaces inside and outside the hospital buildings and properties as directed.
• Applies scratch coat and finish plaster to walls for painting; installs backing material (i.e., metal lath) into areas to be plastered; seals surfaces prior to painting; cleans walls to ensure proper adherence.
• Selects premixed paints, stains, and other finish coatings or prepares paints, stains, and other finish coatings to match specified colors or finishes by blending or mixing required proportions of pigment, oil, thinning and drying substances.
• Uses ladders and scaffolding as required and installs and repairs wall coverings as needed.
• Fills holes, cracks, and joints with putty, spackle, caulking or other filler; applies paint to surfaces including walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.
• Completes hospital rounds to identify and resolve regulatory compliance deficiencies.
• Works with and assists department trades as needed, and performs other hospital maintenance duties as assigned.
