Responsibilities

• Operate PIT equipment for transport of heavy loads during manufacturing.
• Proficient with air assisted airless spray gun for paints, primers, coatings.
• Prepare paint gun, attach air caps/nozzles, configure air/fluid pressure.
• Prepare surfaces via cleaning, caulking, sanding.
• Maintain tools, hoses, pumps in safe condition.
• Mix and load coating materials per formulas and specs.
• Ensure proper spray techniques, thickness, finish quality.
• Identify weldments/parts and related components.
• Setup equipment, follow electrostatic safety protocols and PPE.
• Maintain and troubleshoot spray equipment.
• Inspect finished surfaces for uniform coverage and paint thickness.
• Transfer and agitate paint components in Paint Kitchen.
• Follow processes and contribute to safety, quality, efficiency improvements.

Job Summary:

Performs intermediate-level industrial painting, with limited supervision, work using an air assisted airless spray gun to apply protective coatings to a variety of surfaces. This position will be responsible for surface preparations through cleaning, mixing, sanding, and caulking. Follows proper techniques for spray applications to manufacturer specifications; and applying even, high-quality finishes while following safety, environmental, and quality control standards.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):

• High School Diploma or equivalency preferred. A combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
• Must have 3 to 5 years’ experience in related field, electrostatic spray systems with plural component applications.
• Must be capable to operate PIT equipment moving large weldments.
• Working knowledge of basic mechanical hand tools (Drills, Impact Driver, Rivet/Insert Gun, and Tape Measures).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel individually or in a team environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Demonstrated ability to use various forms of PIT equipment for the transport of heavy loads during the manufacturing process.
• Proficient with an air assisted airless spray gun to apply paints, primers, and specialty coatings for doors and exhaust.
• Adept ability to prepare the paint gun, attach air caps/nozzles, configuring air/fluid pressure.
• Advanced knowledge on preparing surfaces through cleaning, caulking, and sanding as required.
• Maintain tools, spray gun, hoses, and pumps in a safe and efficient condition.
• Mix and load coating materials according to established formulas, recipes, and specifications.
• Ensure proper spray techniques, thickness, and finish quality are achieved.
• Knowledge of weldments and/or parts for identification.
• Skilled ability with equipment setup, follow electrostatic safety protocols (grounding and required PPE’s), breakdown, and cleaning after daily usage.
• Maintain and troubleshoot spray equipment, hoses, regulators, and maintenance of paint equipment.
• Inspect finished surfaces for uniform coverage, adhesion, quality finish and record wet and dry paint mill thickness ensuring it meets company expectations for desired paint life.
• Ability to transfer and agitate all paint components in Paint Kitchen.
• Expected to follow established processes while contributing to continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety guidelines for handling hazardous materials with ability to prep for monthly pick up.
• Safety skills- demonstrated ability to follow safety standards, procedures, and protocols ensuring the safety of other team members in proximity to all work areas.
• Means to work with maintenance team members to ensure equipment is properly maintained for reliable operation.
• Exceptional time management skills

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Active manufacturing setting with exposure to paint fumes, moving equipment, and high-noise environments.
• Work occurs primarily in a controlled paint booth environment, with occasional outdoor work required.
• Frequently stand, walk, pulling, climbing ladders, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
• Requires tolerance for temperature variations, humidity, and ventilation settings while working with paint systems.

Exposure to weather:

• Adaptability and willingness to work in various climates while in proximity to moving mechanical parts.
