Job summary

Columbia Machine, Inc. is seeking an industrial painter to prepare surfaces, apply enamel paints, and ensure finish quality in a fast-paced plant. You will operate spray equipment, mix coatings, and stage parts for an efficient workflow.

Candidates should have 3–5+ years in paint operations, be able to read prints, follow safety standards, and keep a clean work area. We offer a full benefits package and opportunities to contribute to CI initiatives.

  • 3–5+ years of experience in a paint area or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare parts for painting and surface treatment.
  • Operate spray equipment and mix coatings.
  • Read tags and match to the correct job and prints.
  • Maintain clean work area and equipment.
  • Perform daily inspections and preventative maintenance on blast equipment.
  • Stage parts to ensure efficient workflow.

Summary

As an industrial painter, your responsibilities and duties may include preparing the surface to bind to the paint you will apply, applying paint in the desired color and amount, often using specialized spaying equipment, ensuring the quality of the job is up to company standards, and cleaning up your work area and equipment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Prepare parts for painting, ensuring proper surface treatment
  • Conduct intermediate preventative maintenance on blast equipment
  • Manage blast booth loading while keep paperwork organized
  • Accurately reads, interprets, and matches tags on parts to the corresponding job
  • Intermediate understanding of routers, instructions from prints, time reporting, and logs
  • Perform daily inspections and preventative maintenance tasks
  • Mix paint, clean equipment, and utilize manometers effectively
  • Apply enamel paints correctly with little to no rework required after 6 months
  • Assist with down stacking or order auditing as needed
  • Correctly replace filters in all booths
  • Operate pressure pots and utilize D cups appropriately
  • Use Conventional HVLP equipment efficiently
  • Apply primer to parts with precision and adherence to standards
  • Stage parts correctly for paint booths to ensure an efficient workflow
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Proficiency with power tools, air tools, and hand tools
  • Ability to read and work with a 1/16-inch tolerance
  • Familiarity with routers and ability to follow instructions from prints
  • Capability to accurately track time and report job progress
  • Intermediate knowledge of the vault to look up items, routers, and information
  • Ability to safely operate overhead and jib cranes
  • Intermediate non-critical decision-making skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of priming operations
  • Ability to understand and utilize paint tagging system for advanced part description
  • Ability to perform work duties with little to no rework required
  • Ability to pass a Respirator Fit Test per company policy

Education And/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a paint area or related field preferred
