**Overview**

Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) is seeking a Painter for the 2025/2026 school year. This full-time position involves preparing and painting IPS buildings, both interior and exterior, along with various related duties as outlined below.

**Key Responsibilities**

  1. Prepare surfaces by scraping, sanding, cleaning, and masking prior to painting.
  2. Paint surfaces using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment, including walls, ceilings, and other structures.
  3. Match and mix paint colors accurately.
  4. Maintain and troubleshoot spray equipment.
  5. Perform repairs such as re-glazing, installing vinyl wall coverings, and graffiti removal.
  6. Operate various equipment, including scaffolds, ladders, bucket trucks, and lifts.
  7. Assist with layout and painting of graphics on walls and floors.
  8. Drive trucks for material transportation when necessary.
  9. Perform additional tasks such as power washing, floor relining, and working in boiler rooms as needed.
  10. Work flexible hours, including nights, as required.

**Qualifications**

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school, or two to four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain safety training certifications, including Operator Safety Training and Respirator Fit Test.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety and operational documents.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds, working at heights, and exposure to various environmental conditions.

**Work Environment**

The role involves exposure to fumes, airborne particles, heights, and various weather conditions, with a generally loud noise level.
