Job summary

ND Defense is seeking an automotive painter in Mississippi (West Point) to apply refinish coatings to vehicles and sub-assemblies. The role involves inspecting surfaces, color matching, mixing primers, base and clear coatings, and maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, a minimum of 3 years in automotive painting, and 1 year of technical training preferred. Lifting up to 50 lbs and working in variable temperatures are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicle to be painted for proper body repair, prepping and/or masking and notify manager when imperfections are found before applying any refinish coatings.
  • Assure all refinish products are properly formulated to meet color match and finish texture expectations, utilizing tools and techniques from paint suppliers' support system.
  • Mix only the amount of refinish products needed to cover the repair area using the supplier's mix-management system.
  • Apply refinish coatings using approved spray equipment at recommended pressure in the designated, vented area.
  • Maintain paint area and storage rooms; clean and calibrate paint formulation and spray equipment as directed.
  • Update all paint supplier color, technical data and MSDS material as received; follow safety procedures and participate in Safety Excellence activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, e.g., provide technical assistance and train new employees, manage paint inventory to meet production.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for formulating and applying properly mixed and dispensed automotive refinish materials to vehicle surfaces and sub-assemblies, using spray-painting equipment, power tools and other related equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect vehicle to be painted for proper body repair, prepping and/or masking and notify manager when imperfections are found before applying any refinish coatings.
  • Assure all refinish products are properly formulated to meet color match and finish texture expectations, utilizing all tools and techniques provided by paint suppliers technical support system (i.e., color match system, etc.).
  • Mix only the amount of refinish products (primer, base and clear) required to cover repair/refinish area and limit waste, using paint suppliers “mix-management system”.
  • Apply refinish coatings, using only approved, provided spray equipment set at recommended pressure. Apply automotive refinish coatings in designated, properly vented application area as directed by management.
  • Assure paint area (i.e., booth, prep station, etc.) and paint mix/storage rooms are clean, and all refinish products are stored as directed. Clean and maintain all paint formulation and spray application equipment (i.e., paint guns, mixing system, computer equipment, etc.) in proper working order, as directed by management.
  • Update all paint supplier color, technical data and MSDS material as received. Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, i.e., provide technical assistance and train new employees, manage paint inventory to meet production, etc .
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years minimum automotive painting experience.
  • 1 year of technical training preferred.
  • Essential Functions include but are not limited to: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis, work in extreme cold and hot temperatures, squat, kneel, push, pull, and stand for long periods of time.
