Schedule & Pay



  • Shift: Friday - Sunday | 5:00 AM - 5:30 PM (36 hours + 4 bonus hours = 40 hours paid)

  • Training Pay: $27.88/hour

  • Post-Training Pay: $31.00/hour

  • Progression Pay: Up to $32.25/hour after 6 months, and $33.28/hour at 4 years

  • Night Shift Differential: Additional $1/hour when working second shift hours



About the Role


At Wabtec, we believe people come first-and that starts with empowering you to do meaningful work in a safe, collaborative environment. As a Painter, you'll rotate through various duties related to surface preparation, finishing, and quality assurance. From masking and sanding to touch-ups and inspections, your attention to detail and paint expertise will ensure our locomotives and mining components meet the highest standards.



Responsibilities



  • Perform dry sanding, masking/unmasking, finish painting, and sealing

  • Operate and adjust standard paint equipment to ensure optimal spray patterns

  • Follow all environmental and safety procedures for setup and cleanup

  • Identify and correct paint defects such as runs, sags, dry spray, and orange peel

  • Work with plastic fillers (e.g., Bondo) and perform quality inspections

  • Use blueprints, schematics, and manufacturing instructions to guide tasks

  • Assist in manufacturing improvements and tooling processes

  • Support a collaborative, safety-first team environment

  • Operate at heights up to 20 ft using lifts or ladders

  • Lift up to 50 lbs and use assigned tools and PPE



Qualifications



  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

  • Minimum 1 year of industrial/automotive painting OR vocational training in painting

  • Experience with electrostatic and conventional spray equipment

  • Comfortable working at heights and in a fast-paced environment

  • Willing to work occasional weekends and scheduled overtime

  • Preferred: Auto Body experience, I-CAR/ASE course completion, strong leadership, and safety mindset
