Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare metal surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, and priming as necessary.
  • Apply powder, wet, and/or polyurethane coatings using appropriate techniques.
  • Operate and maintain painting equipment, including spray guns and curing ovens.
  • Ensure proper coating thickness and even application per specifications.
  • Inspect finished work for quality and durability, and identify paint defects.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of painting equipment.
  • Change colors according to company procedures and adjust equipment settings as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols and QA guidelines to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Document operations and material usage in ERP system.
  • Train and coach others on basic paint techniques and equipment operations.

The Painter is responsible for applying coatings, including powder, wet, and/or polyurethane finishes, to metal components. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards. This position will have experience in industrial painting, surface preparation, and the operation of painting equipment.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Prepare metal surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, and applying primers as necessary.

  • Apply powder, wet, and/or polyurethane coatings using appropriate techniques and equipment.

  • Operate and maintain painting equipment, including spray guns, curing ovens, and ventilation systems.

  • Ensure proper thickness and even application of coatings according to specifications.

  • Inspect finished work to ensure quality, durability, and compliance with industry standards.

  • Identify and repair paint defects.

  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of painting equipment.

  • Perform color changes in accordance with company procedures.

  • Adjust paint equipment settings for optimal coatings quality.

  • Identify equipment malfunctions and adjust settings as needed.

  • Follow company policies, safety protocols, and quality assurance guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards.

  • Accurately allocate paint usage in ERP system.

  • Accurately fill out required operations and quality paperwork.

  • Train and coach employees on fundamental paint techniques and equipment operations/procedures.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent


Experience and/or Training:



  • Minimum 2 years of experience and/or training in production painter position.

  • Must possess knowledge of powder and wet coating applications and techniques.

  • Must possess mechanical aptitude.

  • Knowledge of reading, writing, and understanding work instructions, work orders, or customer specifications.

Physical and Mental Demands


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently sit, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls.

  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and move between work areas.

  • Regularly required to talk and listen, as well as climb, balance, and reach above shoulder level.

  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

  • The employee must be able to lift and or carry up to 50 lbs. frequently.

Working Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment where loud noise exposure is regular and frequent. Additionally, there is a regular exposure on the production floor to dust, metal debris, changes in ambient temperature, and requires the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
