Qualifications

  • Knowledge of powder coating, sandblasting, or specialty coatings.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Responsibilities

  • Clean, sand, grind, and prep surfaces of fabricated metal components.
  • Mask and protect areas not requiring coatings.
  • Mix and apply primers, paints, and industrial coatings (e.g., epoxy, polyurethane, powder coating if applicable).
  • Use spray guns, brushes, rollers, and other coating tools in accordance with manufacturing specifications.
  • Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of painting equipment.
  • Follow all shop safety procedures including PPE usage, ventilation protocols, and chemical handling.
  • Properly store, dispose, and label paints, solvents, and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safe operations.
  • This position safeguards Colonial’s information network with user access privileges.
  • Any other duties assigned

Position Summary

The Painter is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing fabricated metal parts, assemblies, and equipment according to specifications. This role ensures high-quality surface finishes through proper prep work, application techniques, and adherence to safety and environmental standards. In this role, the Painter will receive day-to-day direction from the Lead.
