A leading company is seeking an aircraft painter responsible for applying paint according to specifications and ensuring a safe working environment. This role demands physical endurance, attention to detail, and requires operating heavy equipment. Ideal candidates will have experience with paint application processes and a commitment to safety in an aircraft hangar setting.
Responsible for the aircraft paint process.
Essential Duties:
·Applies paint to outside surface of aircraft according to customer’s specifications.
·Read and understand blue prints and layout assignments.
·Complete maintenance paperwork.
·Affix paper or plastic sheeting to aircraft with various types of tape (masking, aluminum, and plastic).
·Operate a hand-held sander (weighing approximately 2.9 pounds) to mechanically remove (abrade) old coating from the aircraft’s surface.
·Apply and remove chemical stripper.
·Detergent wash and rinse aircraft with soap sprayer and abrasive pads.
·Operate and work from various aerial lifts.
·Complies with all company and safety policies and procedures.
·Maintaining a clean and safe work area.
Additional Duties:
·Observe the movement of lifts, in or out of hangar, to make sure that they don’t damage equipment or aircraft.
·Observe employees that are in lifts are safety compliant at all times.
·Additional duties as required.
Education/Experience:
·Reading, writing, and basic arithmetic.
Specific Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, Licenses, Certifications, and other requirements:
·Must be able to operate paint gun/sprayer.
·Must exercise good judgment and make appropriate decisions.
·Must be able to learn aircraft components, understand the production process, and perform all tasks required for this position.
·This job requires a consistent presence on the job (regular attendance).
Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this job include:
·Work 10-12 hour shifts, up to 7 days a week.
·Stand up to 60 minutes at any one time for an average of 6 – 7 hours per day.
·Walk up to 15 minutes at any one time.
·Lift up to 5 pounds often, 10-15 pounds frequently, 20 pounds occasionally, and not more than 40 pounds at any one time.
·Carry up to 10-20 pounds at any one time.
·Hold a hand held sander generating noise levels of 91 dB.
·Work between 4’ and 30’ off the ground up to 12 hours a day and up to 70’ off the ground occasionally.
·Wearing rain gear and rain boots to perform wash and strip processes.
·Wear a full face respirator.
·Work in awkward positions restricted by safety harness and other personal protective equipment.
·Reach overhead for prolonged periods of time.
Working Environment:
The working environment is in an aircraft hangar, environmentally uncontrolled with temperatures ranging from 50 degrees Fahrenheit up to 99 degrees Fahrenheit.The hazards of this job include loud noises, vibration, heat, cold, fumes, dusts, odors, mists, and gasses.Safety equipment is mandatory while performing the essential and additional duties of this job and minimizes the adverse effect of these hazards.
