Job summary

Alliance Machine Systems International, LLC in Indiana seeks a full-time Painter to prepare, primer, and paint parts for our metalworking operations. Under supervision, you will inspect finish quality and communicate exceptions to supervision.

You will read basic drawings, support other painters, maintain clean storage areas, and help ensure safe crane operation and proper documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with painting primers and finishes preferred.
  • Ability to read simple drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic metal preparation for specified paint applications.
  • Applies primer and paints in accordance with specifications and requirements.
  • Inspects incoming parts for finish quality; notifies supervisor of exceptions.
  • Assists higher level Painters in preparation and painting processes.
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of storage areas to ensure efficient operation.
  • Reads and understands basic drawings and schematics.

Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Painter cleans, prepares, and paints parts using specified procedures and techniques. Inspects incoming parts for flaws or lack of finish and notifies supervisor of exceptions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Performs basic metal preparation for specified paint applications

  • Ability to work independently with supervision (self-starter/self-motivated)

  • Under direct supervision, applies primer to parts and paint in accordance with AMSI and/or customer specifications and requirements

  • Assists in organizing and cleaning storage areas to maintain efficient operation

  • Read and understand basic drawings and schematics

  • Assist higher level Painters in the preparation and painting process

  • Provide input on quality, cost, and production issues

  • Assist in the detection of defective material, unusual conditions, and report to supervisor

  • Ability to explain the location, use, and definition of MSDS

  • Accurate and timely completion of area specific documentation

  • Ability to demonstrate safe crane operation and rigging fundamentals under direct supervision

EDUCATION

· High school diploma or equivalent. Military, trade school or community college coursework in hydraulic-mechanical assembly, repair, and troubleshooting desired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires a high level of physical flexibility, strength, and stamina, including the ability to: see and assess drawings, photos, and written instructions; audibly hear verbal instructions and mechanical signals (forklifts, cranes, machine alarms, etc.); and speak, read, write, and communicate effectively.

To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, an individual must be willing and able to

  • have full range of body movement: head, neck, shoulders; lift arms overhead; work overhead; reach, lift, push/pull, walk, climb, kneel, bend; good dexterity and range of movement in fingers, hands and wrists.

  • sit for at least three hours.

  • stand on feet for at least three hours.

  • repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.

  • maintain confidence and balance while working on ladders up to 12 feet tall.
