Job summary

PROENERGY, located in Houston, TX, is seeking a skilled Paint Technician to apply industrial coatings to components and assemblies per company and customer standards. The role reports to the Paint Supervisor at the Houston facility.

Responsibilities include sanding/prepping surfaces, spray painting with airless and air-supplied guns, and ensuring coatings meet specifications. Requires 2+ years’ experience, technical certification, and fluent English. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

  • Vocational/technical certification required.
  • 2+ years related work experience.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to closely follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be fluent in English, with strong speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills.

Responsibilities

  • Sand and prep for paint on new and used parts.
  • Use airless and air supplied paint guns to paint parts.
  • Mix and spray the correct paint per specs.
  • Block/sand/featheredge existing coatings for refinishing.
  • Mask surfaces to minimize tapelines and overspray.
  • Sand and buff painted surfaces.
  • Perform metal straightening and repair.

Position Summary

Prepare and apply industrial coatings to components and assemblies, all in accordance with ProEnergy and customer engineering standards and specifications.

Position Responsibilities
  • Sand and prep for paint, new and used parts and surfaces.
  • Use airless and air supplied paint guns to paint new and used parts and surfaces.
  • Mix and spray the correct paint per specifications.
  • Know how to properly block, sand or featheredge existing coatings for refinishing.
  • Mask surfaces to minimize tapelines, and overspray.
  • Sand and buff all painted surfaces.
  • Metal straightening and repair.
Required Qualifications
  • Vocational and or Technical certification.
  • 2+ years related work experience.
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to closely follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Technical competence (understand software, hardware, networks, etc).
  • Must have basic metal straightening and repair skills.
  • Must have experience with airless and air supplied paint guns.
  • Must be fluent in English, with strong speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
  • Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check
Desired Qualifications
  • Mental requirements (analyzing, interpreting, organizing, problem solving, etc.)
  • Equipment use (air grinders, drills, abrasive blasting, computer, forklift, pallet jack, airless spray equipment etc.)
  • Working conditions (indoors/outdoors, noisy environment, dusty, etc.)
  • Must have good hand to eye coordination.
  • Must be able to pay attention to detail.
  • Must learn how to use basic pneumatic grinding tools.
  • Use basic hand tools for disassembly/assembly.
  • Use lifting equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow instructions verbally and/or written (traveler) in English.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
