Job description

The primary focus of the Commercial Painter is to perform maintenance, repairs, applications, and installations associated with company commercial painting projects. This work is to be performed in a safe, productive, and professional manner. The Painter performs installation, alterations or modification, repair of and replacement of all such items related to the painting industry. The painter must have knowledge of industry standard best practices for all paint types (latex, oils, acrylics, etc.) and the proper installation procedures (spray, brush, roll etc.). This position is expected to work within a 90-mile radius of the city of Pittsburgh, and will be an employee of the Pittsburgh, PA office location.

What you'll do:
  • Ability to operate safely all types of paint equipment and hand tools.
  • Effectively apply all paint materials in a safe, productive, and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of all paint materials, proper installation practices and product effectiveness for designate applications.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with commercial paint sprayers.
  • Possess the ability to brush and roll all paint products to designated surfaces.
  • Hang drywall patches and perform light finishing of GWB assemblies.
  • Have knowledge of all GWB assemblies for proper paint applications/installations.
  • Construct interior building partitions under the direction of the carpenter foreman and/or superintendent to assist with temporary partitions.
  • Perform necessary prep work prior to application of designated paint products (sand, caulk, putty, etc.).
  • Safely erect, maintain, and dismantle scaffolding systems for daily construction activities.
  • Must perform general daily safety inspections to all equipment prior to use.
  • Maintain production quantities as outlined by the project schedule.
  • Respond in an expeditious and timely manner to all work requests regarding painting expertise.
  • Assist in loading and unloading building material.
  • Provide input on jobsite logistics, organization, layout, equipment, and manpower utilization.
  • Clean project site and maintain order with all tools and equipment.
  • Operate equipment such as man-lifts, scissor lifts safely and as needed to perform daily activities.
  • Have knowledge of general commercial construction and construction sequencing in order to maintain and properly install all painting activities productively.
  • Perform clean-up procedures including but not limited to painting equipment, scaffolds, and surrounding construction areas.
  • Adhere to comprehensive project safety and security programs as defined in the company safety program in accordance with all applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Meet with the Safety Director and complete mandatory safety training prior to start of employment.
  • Additional tasks as necessary and/or assigned.

Completion of apprentice/vocational program or an equivalent combination of training/education or a minimum of 5 years field experience in the commercial painting trades.
