Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking personnel for aerospace painting roles in Compton, CA. This temp-to-hire position requires experience with paints for fuel tanks, primers, and topcoats, with shift options in the morning or afternoon.

Responsibilities include following precise instructions, crane operation with safety PPE, and adherence to quality and environmental standards. ITAR compliance is required for U.S. person eligibility.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in aerospace paints for fuel tanks, primers and topcoats.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• U.S. person status per ITAR.

Responsibilities

• Follow paint instructions for type, tolerances, and thickness.
• Operate crane following safety rules and wear PPE.
• Ensure coatings meet shelf life and batch records.
• Log oven temperatures and production logs.
• Participate in NADCAP, customer and internal audits.
• Maintain clean, safe work environment and attend OT as needed.

Job description

1st Shift- Hours 5am-1:30pm

AND/OR

2nd Shift- Hours 2pm-10:30pm

Temp to Hire position available

Essential Duties And Competencies

• Understand, adhere, and demonstrate to the company's commitment to QUALITY and SAFETY!
• Review and assimilate work instructions specific to paint type, dimensional tolerance and thickness considerations
• Operate crane while adhering to safety regulations including but not limited to wearing a respirator and Tyvek coveralls at all times
• Ability to use nonnegotiable PPE such as grade D air hoods/masks, Tyvek suits, gloves, and safety eyewear
• Ensuring all work accomplished prior to processing has been completed and inspected before starting work
• Must be prepared to participate in audits; NADCAP, customer, and internal
• Ensuring all masking instructions have been incorporated, and Quality verification has been accomplished prior to application of coatings
• Ensuring shelf life of coatings has not been exceeded prior to mixing and use
• Ensuring “time mixed, time sprayed, and pot life” of coatings are within specification requirements prior to application and recorded on the Shop Travelers
• Ensuring “time out of anodize, time mixed, time sprayed, pot life, time in and out of bake” are recorded on the Shop Traveler (as required by Quality Assurance)
• Ensuring test panels are available and coated with production parts (as required by specification and/or Quality Assurance)
• Ensuring each job which is oven cured has been correctly logged onto the oven chart, i.e. customer name, purchase order number, “AP” batch number (fuel tank coated parts)
• Verifying oven controllers are set at the correct curing temperature and the oven charts indicate the correct time in and time out
• Ensuring that environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity are compliant as specified on the shop traveler prior to painting application
• Understanding and proper use of applicable procedures, specifications, work instructions, etc.
• Ensuring control of nonconforming / age-controlled material in accordance with established procedures
• Experience with primer, fuel tank, and topcoat in aerospace manufacturing preferred
• Will be exposed to chemicals/solvents, occasional fumes, and moderate noise level
• Proper transfer work center containers to the correct Hazardous Storage location
• Familiarize with facility emergency procedures and Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan
• Knowledge of processes to facilitate environmental reporting, meeting disposal requirements, or compliance with Hazardous Waste Regulations
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance according to shift-times or a pre-arranged work schedule
• Available to work OT as needed and weekends
• Perform other duties, as assigned

Education/Experience

5+ experience in Aerospace industry for paints in fuel tank, primer, and topcoat

High School Diploma/GED
