Job summary

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global aviation leader to hire experienced Paint Technicians who oversee final aircraft finishing with precision and quality in Wichita, KS. The role focuses on appearance, durability, and performance of world-class aircraft.

This Full-Time | 4-Month Consultant (Contract-to-Hire) position offers a pay rate of $36.00 per hour with overtime and opportunities for professional growth within a premier aerospace team.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of paint experience, including 3 years of corporate experience.
• Ability to obtain respirator certification (Pulmonary Function evaluation required).
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with maintenance manuals and IPCs.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Knowledge of hazardous material handling regulations.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to General Work Requirements.
• Read engineering drawings to identify tasks for application of chemicals and paint to aircraft surface.
• Apply safety absorbent to hangar floor and spray aircraft surface with stripper to remove paint.
• Assist with moving aircraft to appropriate bay.
• Mask, unmask, and re-mask areas of aircraft surface to protect windows and other areas.
• Remove stripper, excess paint, and contaminants using water, solvents, air blower, brushes.
• Sand, grind, and buff polished areas, apply putty to dents, and replace sealer before primer and paint.

About The Role

As a Paint Technician, you’ll play a vital role in the final stages of aircraft production—ensuring each aircraft meets exacting standards for appearance, durability, and performance. Your attention to detail and expertise will directly impact the quality and presentation of some of the most advanced aircraft in the world.

Position Details

Location: Wichita, KS

Schedule: Monday – Friday; Any Shift

Job Type: Full-Time | 4-Month Consultant (Contract-to-Hire)

Pay Rate: $36.00 per hour

What’d You’ll Do

• Adhere to General Work Requirements
• Read engineering drawings to identify the tasks to be performed in preparation for the application of chemicals and paint to aircraft surface.
• Apply safety absorbent to hangar floor and spray aircraft surface with stripper to remove all paint.
• Assist with moving aircraft to appropriate bay.
• Mask, unmask, and re-mask appropriate areas of aircraft surface to ensure complete protection of windows and other areas susceptible to damage.
• Remove stripper, excess paint, and/or contaminants using water, solvents, air blower, and/or brushes.
• Sand, grind, and buff polished areas of aircraft surface, apply putty to body dents, and replace sealer in preparation for the application of primer and paint.
• Apply Alodine to aircraft surface using spray equipment.
• Perform touch-up work as required.
• Document work performed per Inspection Procedures Manual (IPM)
• Perform above tasks in support of production, flight test, and other outside areas as required.
• Assist other employees in the performance of their duties within area(s) of qualification

Pay Details:

$34.00 per hour
