JOB SUMMARY:
Apply polyurethane, lacquers, epoxy paints, or dry lube coatings to aircraft components. Prepare surfaces for painting and protects surfaces from corrosion.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Aircraft components prep (cleaning, stripping, sanding) and masking/de-masking (fixtures, tape, plugs)
- Apply detail masking to aircraft components using complex masking instructions from manuals
- Aircraft Prep (cleaning, stripping, sanding), and Masking/De-Masking (fixtures, tape, plugs)
- Apply detail masking lines to Aircraft and using complex stencils
- Set up, maintain, and operate typical shop equipment as paint mixers, maintenance of HVLP paint guns, perma-scope or other paint measuring equipment
- Ensure accurate completion of work utilizing stencil maker, buffers, sanders, and other general paint shop equipment tools.
- Mix and apply various primers with thickness requirements (epoxy, waterborne, zinc chromate
- Mix and apply various topcoat finishes including stripping and other detail work- polyurethanes, epoxy, lacquers, clears (gloss, semi gloss and flat colors)
- Apply markings to part using stencils and masking aids
- Use of mil specs, detailed blueprints, fabrication, assembly outlines, sketches, patterns, and written or verbal instructions.
- Paint booth manometer and temperature/humidity readings and tracking required
- Manage paint inventory, monitoring, tracking, and ordering directly from suppliers.
- Work directly with specialty repairs (scratches, dents, damage, blending colors)
EDUCATION:
- Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification.
- Tech School preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport security badge through the local airport authority, if applicable
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- 0-6 months Aviation or previous painting experience is preferred
