Job summary

Bombardier Learjet Inc in Wichita, KS seeks a Paint Technician to prep and paint aircraft surfaces. You will read engineering drawings, set up and operate spray equipment, and perform finishing steps with attention to safety and quality.

The role supports production, flight tests, and related tasks on the shop floor. Ideal candidates have experience in aircraft painting prep and a careful approach to masking, stripping, and surface finishing.

Qualifications

• Experience with preparation and painting aircraft or equivalent (preferred).
• Ability to read engineering drawings to identify tasks in prep for paint.

Responsibilities

• Read drawings to identify tasks for aircraft surface prep.
• Mask, unmask, and re-mask areas to protect windows and surfaces.
• Apply stripper and remove paint, using water, solvents, air blower, and brushes.
• Sand, grind, and buff polished areas; apply putty and sealers as needed.
• Apply Alodine to aircraft surfaces with spray equipment.
• Perform touch-up work as required and document per IPM.
• Support production, flight test, and other areas as needed.
• Assist others in duties within qualified areas.

How to thrive in this role?

• Adhere to General Work Requirements
• Read engineering drawings to identify the tasks to be performed in preparation for the application of chemicals and paint to aircraft surface.
• Apply safety absorbent to hangar floor and spray aircraft surface with stripper to remove all paint.
• Assist with moving aircraft to appropriate bay.
• Mask, unmask, and re-mask appropriate areas of aircraft surface to ensure complete protection of windows and other areas susceptible to damage.
• Remove stripper, excess paint, and/or contaminants using water, solvents, air blower, and/or brushes.
• Sand, grind, and buff polished areas of aircraft surface, apply putty to body dents, and replace sealer in preparation for the application of primer and paint.
• Apply Alodine to aircraft surface using spray equipment.
• Perform touch-up work as required.
• Document work performed per Inspection Procedures Manual (IPM)
• Perform above tasks in support of production, flight test, and other outside areas as required.
• Assist other employees in the performance of their duties within area(s) of qualification.
