Job summary

Holland LP in University Park, IL is seeking a hands-on Paint Technician to support on-time, quality coating operations. You will mix paints, prepare surfaces, and apply coatings while adhering to safety and lean processes.

Candidates should have 1-2 years in manufacturing paint, read blueprints and measurement tools, operate forklifts and lifts, and work well in a team to meet deadlines. This hourly role offers training, varied shifts, and a focus on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years manufacturing paint experience.
  • Develop clear understanding of Holland quality expectations or requirements.
  • Read tape measure, mic’s and calipers.
  • Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical prints and schematics.
  • Working knowledge of the proper use of electrical diagnostic instruments and measurements tools.
  • Use of forklifts, manlifts, scissor lifts.
  • Ability to understand bills of material and non-conformance procedures.
  • Capability in the usage of basic hand tools, fasteners and power tools (drills, grinders, etc.).
  • Able to work effectively as a team member.
  • Good safety awareness and behavior.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Takes ownership in solving problems.
  • Able to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated; motivated by improvement and performance.
  • Ability to complete all pre-employment testing required by Holland LP.

Responsibilities

  • Supply on time and quality products to all Holland customers.
  • Mix paints to match color specifications, stir, and thin the paints.
  • Sand, mask, clean, and prime parts prior to painting.
  • Mask off areas that should not be painted by using tape, covers, or plugs, and keep surfaces free from dirt, oil, and dust.
  • Hang, rack, or place parts on fixtures to be coated evenly and safely.
  • Maintain all tools and equipment, keep workspace clean and organized and perform routine maintenance for paint booth and booth filters.
  • Utilize all required safety equipment and follow proper procedures in compliance with OSHA safety guidelines. Wear and use required safety equipment.
  • Store, handle, and dispose of hazardous waste properly.
  • Manage, order, and inventory paint supplies
  • Safely load and unload parts using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks.
  • Safety (5-S) / discipline practices and enforcement of Main shop safety.
  • Training personnel / cross training / documentation and records as required.
  • Maintain clean and organized shop at all times.
  • Maintain Shop Paper Work, excel spreadsheets, E.C.R.’S, N.C.R.’S, O.F.I’S, I.F.S. Procedures and work instructions etc. as required.
  • Assist in testing, FAT’s and certifications.
  • Participate in LEAN training and develop and support process improvement practices.
  • Participate and support technical training programs as requested by the Group Supervisor or Production Manager.
  • Travel as required
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Standing, walking, stooping, reaching, kneeling and bending, for extended periods required to perform basic functions along with some sitting.
  • Hands on working position.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is regularly required.
  • Vision must be sufficient for reading electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical prints and schematics.
  • Ability to climb a steep ladder frequently.
  • Ability to move up and down from trucks.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
  • Exposure on a regular basis to mostly indoor and sometimes outdoor weather conditions.
  • Could be working at off sight locations either inside or outside.
  • Shop environment, dry conditions, heated shop, non-air conditioned.
  • All safety related gear and PPE provided.
  • Fully lighted and secure facility.
