Job summary

HuFriedyGroup in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a Paint Technician to operate manual and automated powder coating equipment and to prepare, coat, cure, and inspect parts. You will follow work instructions, safety procedures and 5S standards while maintaining production quality and on-time delivery.

The role requires standing for long periods and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with familiarity in SAP for production records and a focus on Lean manufacturing practices such as 5S and visual

Qualifications

  • Experience powder coating or similar manufacturing process.
  • Knowledge, understanding and application of Lean Manufacturing tools, such as 5S, Visual Management, Waste elimination, and Root Cause Problem Solving.
  • Knowledge in the use of SAP (through hands on training).
  • Must have ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Operates manual and automated powder coating equipment to apply powder coating to components in accordance with established work instructions, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Prepares, positions, and places coated parts into the curing oven, ensuring proper handling and processing throughout the powder coating operation.
  • Reads and interprets work orders, drawings, specifications, and other production documents to determine processing requirements; records production activity, including part quantities and elapsed times, in SAP.
  • Inspects and verifies finished components by visually examining parts and measuring coating thickness to ensure they meet Engineering specifications and established quality standards.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by following all safety policies and procedures and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing job duties.
  • Maintains paint equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and orderly condition in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Prioritizes and coordinates workflow within the assigned area to support production efficiency and meet scheduled customer demand.
  • Performs Material Prep duties as needed to provide coverage for absenteeism and maintain production continuity.
  • Identifies and reports equipment issues, quality concerns, discrepancies, and other production irregularities to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Performs additional production-related duties as assigned, including plugging parts using an air hammer, masking and unmasking components, and operating a printer to produce artwork when required.

Position Summary
