Zehnder Rittling in South Buffalo is seeking a skilled Powder Coat Paint Line Technician to join our team. You will operate and troubleshoot the powder coating line, apply powder finishes, and ensure quality standards on a variety of products.

The role requires attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to work a 5:00 am–3:30 pm shift with potential overtime. Experience in powder coating or spray painting is preferred, and a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the powder coating line to meet specifications (temperature, time, thickness).
• Apply powder coating materials using electrostatic guns.

• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment (booth, guns, wash tanks, ovens, conveyors).
• Maintain wash system pH and chemical balance.
• Ensure safety and environmental compliance; handle hazardous materials properly.
• Manage inventory of powders and consumables; document production data.

Job description

Zehnder Rittling in South Buffalo is hiring a skilled and detail-oriented Powder Coat Paint Line Technician to join our team. This position involves managing and maintaining the powder coating process and equipment, ensuring high-quality finishes on a variety of products. The technician will operate and troubleshoot equipment, mix and apply powder coating materials, and ensure all safety and quality standards are adhered to during production.

Reliable transportation is required for 5:00 am to 3:30 pm shift Monday through Thursday along with overtime when needed on Friday for 5:00 am to 3:30 pm and sometimes Saturday for 5:00 am to 11:00 am. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.

• Powder Coating Process: Operate and monitor the powder coating line to ensure the coating process meets specifications, including temperature, time, and coating thickness.
• Spray Application: Apply powder coating materials to various substrates using electrostatic guns, ensuring even coverage and consistent application.
• Quality Control: Inspect coated parts for defects, ensuring that the finish is uniform, smooth, and free from defects such as runs, sags, or inconsistencies.
• Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of the powder coating equipment, including the booth, spray guns, wash tanks, ovens, and conveyors.
• Wash System: Maintain proper pH and chemical composition of wash/rinse tanks.
• Environmental and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company safety protocols and environmental regulations. Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory of powder coating materials, including pigments, chemicals, and other consumables.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate production records, including batch numbers, production time, and any issues encountered during the coating process.
• Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.

Qualifications

• Experience: Previous experience in powder coating, spray painting, or a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Skills:
  • Knowledge of powder coating materials, processes, and equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to inspect and maintain quality standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with coating systems.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in an environment with exposure to heat, dust, and noise.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certifications or training in industrial painting or related fields is a plus.
